What are the three biggest current issues in Pakistan?
First of all, the main and biggest problem of Pakistan is political instability. Yes, political instability!
Since inception, we have been witnessing hell of political emergencies, constitutional dead locks, assassinations, bombings, demonstrations and sit ins. Smooth transition has been a rare thing in Pakistan politics either the power is grabbed by military or elite rulers. And this is the root cause of all the problems and logically enough explains why do economy is touching downward spiral and masses face poverty and unemployment. When political leaders are busy in blame game and point scoring then who the hell would care for unpriviliged and innocent masses?
Second problem which I see is flawed educational system and insignificant literacy rate. Right after independence, our government opted the British style of education which sadly could not meet the needs of Pakistani people. Also, there is a division of private and government sector which has introduced the word " Best education". Something like this " Our institute provides best education". Anyone help me understand what is called best education? Before listening this term, I was only aware of education and I think education is always good. Bad is just a bad term introduced by some people who use education as a business.
Further more, our government has non serious attitude regarding the importance of getting education. This makes you wonder but only 2.5% of GDP is spend on education, quite negligible if compare to other advanced countries. Unless, we realize the importance of education we cannot move forward. One thing more, there is a barrier for women education. We take women as domestic appliance and keep them inside the four walls of home, without realizing that women make more than half of the population of Pakistan.
Third is rampant corruption that is prevailed in every sector of the country and plaguing everyone from top to bottom. Everyone is busy in fulfilling his selfish interest no matter what way they are doing it.
